In many modern cooling systems it is also the pressurised fill and degassing reservoir: small bleed flows return air and vapour to the tank while a submerged outlet supplies bubble-free coolant back to the pump circuit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTanks differ in capacity, shape, mounting, hose ports, internal baffles, pressure-cap neck and level-sensor arrangement. Some are pressurised and carry a calibrated cap; others are an unpressurised overflow bottle connected to a radiator cap. These designs are not interchangeable.
