The filter pickup must remain submerged without interference
The pump draws fluid through a filter neck or pickup sealed into the valve body. If the seal is cut, the neck is too short or the pan permits an incorrect oil height, the pump can ingest air. If the pan is too shallow, it may contact the filter or mechatronic unit.

Transmission fluid approval is exact
Automatic, dual-clutch and CVT fluids have deliberately different friction, viscosity and additive characteristics. A broadly described universal fluid or one of the same colour is not proof of compatibility. The transmission code and current technical data determine the approval, and some units specify different oils in separate chambers.
Do not mix products to use up stock or add friction modifier without an explicit procedure.

Fluid and magnet condition provide useful evidence
A fine grey paste on magnets can reflect normal ferrous wear, while larger chips, needle rollers, friction material or glitter require deeper investigation. Dark colour alone varies with service and design, but burnt odour plus shift faults can indicate overheating. Photograph and retain significant debris for diagnosis.
