Corrosion must be treated beneath the finish

Bubbling paint usually means corrosion has progressed beyond the visible point. Remove coating until sound material is reached and inspect both sides of the panel. Perforation, weakened edges and structural corrosion require appropriate metal repair, not filler and paint alone.

Converters and encapsulators have specific limits and preparation rules. They should not be used as a generic shortcut. Seam sealer, cavity protection and drainage may also need restoration after a proper repair.

Spray pattern and overlap

Shake exactly as stated so pigments and additives disperse. Hold the can upright at a consistent distance, begin moving before opening the nozzle and release after passing the edge. This reduces heavy spots at each reversal.

Overlap passes evenly so film build is uniform. Curves and panel edges receive material from more angles and can run easily. Metallic basecoat needs consistent orientation; a final control coat may be specified.

Flash, recoat and curing windows

Flash time allows solvent to leave between coats. It changes with temperature, airflow and film thickness, so follow both time and visual guidance. Recoating too quickly can trap solvent; waiting beyond the chemical window may require sanding for adhesion.

Dry-to-touch is not fully cured. Tape, clips, washing, fuel and polishing can mark a young coating. Activated two-component aerosols have a limited pot life after their internal hardener is released and require particularly strict safety handling.
