Primer should form an essential part of painting your car. Without it, the topcoat is unlikely to give the finish that you want because of the surface that you’re painting on. The surface may be uneven, rusty or has poor adhesive qualities. Either way, primer can help solve these problems. Hammerite Special Metals Primer is water based to promote adhesion to stainless steel and non-ferrous metals, including galvanised, aluminium, chrome, brass and copper. Applying it will also provide a smooth even finish for you to apply a topcoat, whilst being quick drying (it will be touch dry in 30 minutes and can be overcoated after only 30 minutes). It also gives long lasting protection and can be used inside and out. Comes in red in a 500ml tin. The Hammerite range is designed to protect metalwork from humidity, rain and rust.
