Vehicle geometry
A flat frame cannot be forced safely onto every bumper
Curved bodywork pulls the centre or corners away, placing continuous stress into clips and plate. A shaped plinth supports the full area.
Check front airflow, radar zones and towing covers. At the rear, account for camera field, handle movement and lamp spread.
Plate dimensions and margins
The holder opening must suit the legal plate format fitted to that vehicle. It should not mask characters, required markings or permitted identifiers.

Holder materials
ABS and polypropylene frames resist corrosion and flex, but UV and low temperature can embrittle clips. Aluminium or stainless surrounds are stronger but conductive and can create sharp edges.
Mixed metal screws in aluminium bodywork need the specified isolation. Carbon-steel rust stains can travel across the plate face.
Fixing screws and caps
Use corrosion-resistant fasteners of correct length with broad support or designed plate washers. Colour caps must not make a character look different.

Camera and sensor integration
Some plinths position a rear camera or illumination lamp. An incorrect angle changes the displayed guide view and can create glare.
Front radar and parking sensors require clear zones defined by the vehicle maker. Metallic frames and thick fasteners can disturb them.
Number plate lighting
Rear lamps must illuminate the plate without the frame blocking their lens. Restore seals and wiring where a lamp housing is removed.
White LED retrofits need approval, polarity, thermal and fault-monitoring compatibility. A holder should not redirect bright light towards following drivers or the camera.
Exhaust and heat clearance
