The difference is handling quantity, not strength. One litre covers 200 litres of fuel; five litres covers 1,000 litres. The smaller pack supports easier direct measurement for individual vehicles, while the larger pack needs a clean fuel-compatible graduated dispenser and controlled bulk storage.
Build a reliable shortlist
Identify fuel type, tank/fill quantity and equipment-maker policy first. Calculate treatment from the actual litres of fuel, not tank capacity unless filling from empty. Check the exact reservoir label and prepare a clean dedicated measuring vessel before opening the pack.

If the fuel cannot be positively identified, the tank is contaminated or the vehicle maker prohibits treatment, do not add Dipetane. Resolve the fuel/system problem first; more treatment is not a safe response to a dosing or reservoir mistake.
Calculate the 1:200 dose accurately
At 1:200, divide fuel litres by 200 to obtain Dipetane litres, or multiply fuel litres by 5 for millilitres. Examples are: 10 L fuel/50 ml treatment; 20/100; 30/150; 40/200; 50/250; 60/300; 80/400; 100/500; 200/1,000. For 1,000 litres, the dose is the full 5-litre pack.
Dose the fuel actually being treated. If 25 litres remain and 35 litres are added, the relevant total is 60 litres only if the residual fuel was untreated; if it already contained Dipetane, calculate only the new fuel. Keep a log to avoid repeatedly treating the same residual volume. Do not rely on an imprecise dashboard fuel gauge for small doses.
Petrol, diesel and kerosene—no silent expansion
Dipetane's current official instructions explicitly name petrol, diesel and kerosene. The company also states that the product is hydrocarbon-based and self-mixing. Those statements do not authorise placing it into AdBlue, LPG/CNG, hydrogen, battery coolant, engine oil or another non-fuel system.
For a hybrid, the relevant question is the combustion engine's approved petrol/diesel fuel and the maker's treatment policy; hybrid branding itself does not prove suitability. For boilers or machinery using kerosene, follow the burner/equipment manufacturer, storage-tank and competent-engineer instructions. Do not add treatment through an unsafe bulk-tank opening or while a burner is running.
Attribute economy and emissions claims correctly
Dipetane's website advertises fuel savings ‘up to 10%’ and reductions ‘up to’ specified emissions values, attributing them to more complete combustion. ‘Up to’ includes smaller or no improvement, and tests on particular fleets, engines or conditions cannot predict another vehicle. This page makes no savings, emissions or payback guarantee.
To assess fuel consumption, use several comparable tankfuls before and after, consistent fill technique, distance, load, route, tyre pressure and weather where possible. For emissions, use calibrated equipment and record engine temperature and test cycle. A dashboard average, visible smoke impression or single MOT value is not a controlled comparison and can change after maintenance or driving pattern.
EGR, DPF, catalyst and injector boundaries
Dipetane says its combustion effect can reduce formation of unburnt-carbon deposits and makes cleaning/DPF-related claims. Treat these as manufacturer descriptions of intended benefit. EGR sticking can involve soot, oil, motor/gearing and sensor faults; DPF restriction can be soot, non-combustible ash, melting/cracking, pressure-sensor or regeneration failure. Fuel treatment cannot diagnose which one exists.
Do not force high-speed driving or regeneration to chase an additive claim. Read fault codes and live data, check oil level and service history and follow the vehicle maker's regeneration/repair process. A DPF above safe loading, a warning to stop, limp mode, misfire, injector leak or rising oil level needs competent diagnosis. Dipetane does not remove ash or repair damaged aftertreatment hardware.
Hydrocarbon handling, storage and spill response
Read the current Dipetane safety data before use. Work in a ventilated area, switch off the engine/heater, exclude smoking, sparks and hot surfaces and control static as the site procedure requires. Wear specified gloves and eye protection. Use a clean fuel-compatible measure with a pouring spout; never use a food/drink container or a funnel contaminated with water or another fluid.
Keep 1 L and 5 L packs sealed, upright, labelled and protected from impact and temperature extremes in the approved fuel/chemical store. Close the fuel cap and treatment pack immediately. Stop spills at source, protect drains and use the safety-sheet absorbent/waste route. Do not wash hydrocarbon residue into soil or surface water, and do not leave oily measuring equipment in a passenger compartment.

The repeated ‘Dipetane Dipetane’ in titles is not a double-strength version. Both packs use the same ratio. Preserve litre and millilitre units carefully: 250 ml treats 50 litres, not 250 litres.
