Classic DeVille and Eldorado need generation evidence

Over their histories, these names moved through substantial changes in body construction, driven wheels, engine controls and suspension. An Eldorado generation can be front-wheel drive while another classic Cadillac family uses a rear-drive chassis. DeVille likewise cannot be reduced to one axle or brake design.

Use chassis, engine and transmission numbers plus physical layout. Classic model-year trim can appear similar while wheel cylinders, drums, steering joints or lamps differ.

Classic fuel and ignition should be diagnosed mechanically

Engine family and installation both matter

A V8 designation does not establish orientation, starter, sump, cooling or exhaust. Northstar-family engines, older pushrod engines and modern turbo or cylinder-deactivation systems use different service data. Identify code and installation.

Use exact oil viscosity and approval, filter, capacity and level process. Diagnose consumption, pressure or valvetrain noise with mechanical evidence. Do not substitute thicker oil to conceal pressure loss.
