The Ligier name can describe an L6e light quadricycle, an L7e heavy quadricycle, an older sports car or another specialist product. Those identities change the powertrain, braking expectations, permitted mass and legal route.
Record VIN, manufacturer’s plate, V5C category, build date, model, engine or motor, transmission, brakes, wheels and installed numbers. Preserve photographs of labels before cleaning them.
Small dimensions do not create universal fitment
Compact diesel engines, CVT belts, filters and brake components can have a recognisable supplier origin, but Ligier installation details matter. Mounts, shafts, pulley spacing, cooling, electrical pinning and calibration can change.

Combustion engines need code-specific service
Identify exact diesel or petrol engine and its emissions equipment. Use the specified oil viscosity and approval, filter, capacity, coolant and fuel filtration. Low annual mileage does not prevent condensation, belt ageing or fuel deterioration.
Stop for oil-pressure warnings, overheating, fuel leakage, heavy smoke or abnormal mechanical noise. Confirm pressure and temperature with measurements instead of masking a fault with thicker oil or altered cooling.
A CVT is a complete transmission system

Braking parts are category and axle specific
Inspect discs or drums, pads or shoes, calipers or cylinders, hoses, pipes, cables, master cylinder and wheel bearings. Measure rather than judging through the wheel. Match friction material across an axle.
After hydraulic work, use the specified bleed sequence and any diagnostic actuation. Confirm pedal reserve, free rotation, balance and parking hold. Fluid on friction material requires correction of the leak and replacement of contaminated parts.
Light suspension still carries impact loads
Inspect arms, ball joints, bushes, dampers, springs, steering rack, joints, subframes and attachment points. Kerb impact can move a pickup without dramatic exterior damage. Establish structure before aligning around it.
Tighten bonded bushes at the documented position and set tyre pressures and ride height before geometry. Confirm steering self-centring and clearance through full lock and travel.
Body structure may combine several materials

Seasonal storage needs more than a charged battery
Before laying up, assess fuel stability, coolant protection, tyre pressure, brake moisture and rodent access. Do not leave the parking brake applied if the approved storage plan uses wheel chocks instead. Support or move the vehicle only in a way that does not damage tyres or suspension.
For an EV, follow the maker's storage state-of-charge and periodic check guidance; leaving it permanently full or empty can be harmful. On recommissioning, inspect leaks, tyres, brakes, CVT ventilation, low-voltage supply and warning history before road speed.
Technology and approvals evolved during production
Later vehicles can add electronic engine control, electric propulsion, different lighting and further diagnostic functions while retaining a familiar shell. A newer module may require coding or paired sensors, whereas an earlier switch may be purely electromechanical. Confirm supply, communication and software expectations before substitution.
Approval limits also govern maximum mass, output and speed. Performance changes can move a vehicle outside the assumptions under which its brakes, tyres and structure were assessed, so obtain competent engineering and legal advice before modifying it.
