Do not use a consumable simply because it feeds or fits. An apparently successful arc can still produce unacceptable fusion, porosity, cracking or mechanical properties. Structural or safety-critical welding requires an appropriate procedure, competent welder and inspection; this product page is not a substitute for those controls.
Solid, gasless and aluminium MIG wire
Weldfast mild-steel solid wire is listed in 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mm diameters and packages from small 0.7 kg spools to 15 kg reels. Check that the hub and reel fit the feeder, the drive roll groove matches the diameter and the liner and contact tip are clean and correctly sized. Set tension only high enough for reliable feed; excessive pressure can deform wire and load the motor.
Gasless flux-cored wire and 0.8 mm aluminium wire are separate choices. Follow the exact polarity and parameter chart for self-shielded wire. Aluminium is softer and can require dedicated liner, roll and torch arrangements plus careful oxide removal. Keep every reel dry, protected from dirt and identified after opening. Rust, kinks or cross-wound layers should not be fed into the torch.
Electrodes, contact tips and gas cups
Mild-steel electrode listings range from 1.6 to 3.2 mm and include small packs and a 5 kg option. Electrode classification, diameter and condition determine more than pack size. Store them by their instructions and reject damaged or contaminated coatings. Choose current, polarity, arc length and preparation from the procedure and power-source manual rather than copying settings from a different electrode.
Contact tips are listed by wire diameter and torch families numbered 140, 150 and 250; gas cups include push-on tapered and screw-on types. Confirm thread, bore, installed length and retention. A worn tip can disturb current transfer and wire position, while spatter in a cup can disrupt shielding. Isolate the machine and allow parts to cool before replacement, then tighten with the intended tool without distorting the tip holder.
Cylinders, regulators and shielding-gas connections
Disposable CO2, argon and argon/CO2 cylinder titles sit beside mini and two-gauge regulators and a female-to-bullnose adaptor. Read the cylinder label rather than relying on colour, and keep the valve and regulator free from oil, grease, damage and contamination. The regulator inlet, pressure rating and gas service must match the cylinder outlet exactly.
Secure cylinders upright by an approved method, protect them from heat and impact and fit valve protection when required. Open a valve slowly from a safe position after confirming downstream controls. Leak-test with the specified method, never with a flame. Close the cylinder when work ends, relieve downstream pressure as instructed and store cylinders in a ventilated location away from incompatible hazards.
Cutting, grinding and flap discs
The range includes a thin 115 mm metal cutting disc, a thicker grinding disc and zirconium flap discs in 40 and 60 grit. Check diameter, bore and maximum speed against the grinder, inspect for cracks, moisture or damage and use undamaged flanges. The guard must suit the operation and remain between the wheel and operator as intended.
Apply a cutting wheel in the plane of the cut without side loading. Use a grinding or flap product for its stated stock-removal or finishing role, controlling angle and pressure so the wheel does not overheat or snag. Clamp the work, direct sparks away from people, glass, hoses, cylinders and combustible material, and allow the grinder to stop before putting it down.
Fume, fire, radiation and protective equipment
HSE states that all welding fume can cause lung cancer and requires exposure to be controlled. Capture fume at source with suitable local exhaust ventilation where possible, supported by the respiratory and general-ventilation controls determined by assessment. Shielding gases can displace oxygen, particularly in restricted spaces, so never begin from the assumption that a small job or mild steel is harmless.
