Q-Bond is a repair-chemical brand. There are two products, not two strengths of one adhesive. QB2 contains four active kit components and makes hard filled repairs. QB7GM is a single 85g silicone tube intended to remain flexible. Package dimensions and an ultra-strong title do not establish structural load, pressure, gap size or vehicle approval.
Build a reliable shortlist
Identify the component material and original repair method. Determine whether the joint must remain flexible, be dismantled later, carry structural load, contain pressure or contact fuel, oil, coolant or transmission fluid. If the manufacturer specifies replacement or a particular sealant, follow that procedure rather than choosing by a broad material list.

Do not use QB2 powder to bulk out a gasket bead or add cyanoacrylate to RTV. Each chemistry needs its own surface preparation and cure. Combining them produces an unevidenced joint that may block passages or fail unpredictably.
QB2 adhesive, black powder and grey powder
Q-Bond's technical sheet identifies QB2 as two identical clear ethyl-cyanoacrylate adhesives, one black reinforcing powder and one light-grey powder. The black powder is primarily associated with hard plastics; grey with metal. Two separate adhesive bottles preserve unopened shelf life. Puncture and dispense only as directed, then cap cleanly without transferring powder into the bottle.
For a gap repair, clean and dry the compatible substrate, support it in alignment and build the powder and adhesive in small controlled stages by the manual. Do not flood a deep mass. The reaction is fast and can become hot. Allow cooling and final cure before sanding or drilling, and use dust control and eye protection because cured repair and surrounding substrate can produce harmful particles.
Cyanoacrylate compatibility and safety
Q-Bond states that polyethylene, polypropylene, silicone-based rubber and stainless steel are exceptions. Paint, plating, aged plastic, oily metal and unknown composite also require a test. A bond to the surface does not prove the underlying cracked part can carry its original cyclic or impact load. Replace components where failure could harm people or disable a safety system.
Avoid skin and eye contact and keep the face out of vapour. Cyanoacrylate bonds tissue rapidly. Follow the safety sheet for first aid and never pull bonded skin apart by force. Cotton and wool can react vigorously with liquid cyanoacrylate, so do not use them for wiping spills. Ventilate, isolate the spill and use the specified absorbent and disposal route.
QB7GM RTV silicone gasket maker
QB7GM is listed as an 85g dark-grey or charcoal RTV silicone flange sealant that cures flexible. Product records state use in eligible joints exposed to oil, transmission fluid, water and antifreeze mixtures and describe a high-temperature tolerance up to 300°C. Verify the current tube because fluid and temperature resistance depend on full cure, bead geometry and exposure duration.
The published cure wording of one hour per 0.1mm shows that thickness matters, but ambient humidity and temperature also affect RTV. Do not assume an outer skin means the centre has cured. Follow the exact assembly, finger-tightening or torque sequence and return-to-service time provided for the component and sealant. Keep the cap and nozzle clean for controlled later use.
Flange preparation, bead and assembly
Remove old gasket material without gouging the flange or sending debris into the assembly. Clean by the equipment maker's approved solvent and leave surfaces dry unless the Q-Bond directions specifically allow residual oil. Check flatness, cracks, bolt condition and thread holes. Silicone cannot correct a warped cover, damaged casting or lost clamp load.
Apply a continuous bead of the specified diameter, normally routing around bolt holes according to the repair manual. Too much can squeeze inward and detach into an oil pickup, coolant passage or control valve; too little leaves a gap. Assemble within the stated working time, tighten in sequence and do not retorque by guess. Remove only external excess after the instructed stage.
Application boundaries and verification
Sensor-safe after cure is useful but not blanket approval for every oxygen sensor, catalytic system or electronic component. Do not use RTV on a head gasket, exhaust joint, fuel system, pressurised hydraulic seal or formed-gasket location unless the manufacturer explicitly specifies this exact type. The 300°C figure alone is insufficient for exhaust gas or flame exposure.
After full cure, fill with the correct fluid, inspect and test by the vehicle procedure. Monitor leakage, pressure and temperature after operation. If a joint leaks, dismantle and diagnose surface, torque, bead and cure rather than adding an external smear. Record product code, batch, cure interval and assembly method for future service.

Keep the Q-Bond code and repair location in the service record. A later technician needs to know whether a hard powder repair or flexible RTV is present before heating, machining or dismantling the component.
Reading real Q-Bond references

The live kit description says bonds almost any surface and permanent within seconds, but Q-Bond itself lists material exceptions and full performance depends on application. The gasket-maker's 300°C and sensor-safe claims remain conditional on cure and exact joint approval.
