GRANVILLE

Granville on AutoMotoPart brings together workshop chemicals for joining, lubricating, filling, protecting and cleaning. The current range includes exhaust assembly paste, silicone and RTV sealants, instant gasket products, seam sealer, PU sealer, bearing fit and thread-locking compounds, metal repair putty and spray adhesive. Copper, ceramic, red-rubber, CV, silicone and terminal greases sit beside engine oil, hydraulic and suspension fluids, power-steering products, two-stroke oil, stone-chip coating, underbody protection, floor paint and screenwash.

Choose by system, material and specification. A grease is not selected from colour alone; a sealant must suit the joint, fluids, temperature, gap and movement; an engine or hydraulic fluid must carry the exact grade or specification required by the vehicle. The current AutoMotoPart selection contains 99 Granville items, led by 93 maintenance entries, 2 janitorial & hygiene entries, 2 site safety entries, 1 abro rtv silicone gasket (non returnable) entry. These Granville figures describe the range on this page rather than every product the brand may make elsewhere.

Read the full Granville title and current technical information before opening. C4 5W-30 wording, LHM Plus, LDS and power-steering fluid describe materially different duties. Exhaust paste, RTV silicone, PU seam sealer and threadlocker cure by different mechanisms and should not be interchanged because each arrives in a tube or cartridge. Likewise, copper and ceramic brake greases must be used only at positions explicitly permitted by current repair information, never on friction surfaces or where the braking manufacturer prohibits a compound.

Workshop chemicals can be flammable, corrosive, irritating or harmful through vapour and skin contact. Use the label and safety data in the workplace assessment, ventilate, control ignition and wear suitable protection. Keep every product out of brake friction areas, intake paths and fluid reservoirs unless it is intended for that exact use. A stop-leak, putty or sealant cannot be assumed to repair structural, pressurised or fuel-system damage safely. Diagnose the fault and use an approved repair method. The Granville products below are organised by task, with final suitability controlled by the exact reference and vehicle or equipment procedure.

Granville: understand the range before choosing

Granville identifies itself as a British manufacturer of motor oils, automotive chemicals and workshop ancillaries. The AutoMotoPart selection is correspondingly broad: sealants and repair compounds, greases, lubricants, engine and hydraulic fluids, coatings, screenwash, spill granules and waste sacks all appear. Each product must be matched to its own system because the Granville name is not a universal compatibility statement.

AutoMotoPart currently lists 99 Granville items. The largest Granville groups are 93 maintenance entries, 2 janitorial & hygiene entries, 2 site safety entries, 1 abro rtv silicone gasket (non returnable) entry. Granville totals can change, so a category count is orientation rather than proof that a particular reference suits a vehicle, workplace or job. The exact Granville listing, its current technical information and the item in front of you must agree.

What the Granville page actually covers

Product group in this rangeCurrent entriesSelection focus
Maintenance93Separate maintenance chemicals by exact role: sealant, adhesive, grease, fluid, coating, cleaner, spill control or waste handling.
Janitorial & Hygiene2Treat janitorial items as supporting equipment rather than evidence that every Granville chemical is a cleaner.
Site Safety2Use spill-control and site-safety items within a workplace response plan, not as a substitute for containment or reporting.
ABRO RTV SILICONE GASKET (NON RETURNABLE)1Read named gasket products by cure mechanism, temperature and chemical exposure rather than the generic product-type wording.
BIKE INSTANT GASKET 40GM1Confirm the exact vehicle or equipment system before using any bike-labelled gasket or other specialist item.

The 99-item range contains 93 maintenance products plus small hygiene and safety groups. Product categories show 20 repair-kit entries, 16 multipurpose greases, 13 sealants, nine paints or primers, four hydraulic oils, four assembly pastes and four engine oils. Titles add exhaust products, threadlockers, screenwash, battery-terminal care and spill-control items. No single specification or application should be inferred across that mix.

Build a reliable shortlist

Granville selection starts by naming the system and failure mode. A leaking joint, a dry bearing, a low fluid level, corroded metal and a spill are separate problems. Once the task is defined, material, temperature, chemical exposure, movement, load, cure method and vehicle specification can narrow the product safely.

CheckWhy it mattersUseful evidence
System or jointEngine, exhaust, braking, hydraulic, electrical and body systems impose different demandsVehicle procedure and the full Granville product name
Material compatibilityRubber, plastics, aluminium, ferrous metal and painted surfaces can react differentlyTechnical information for both product and mating materials
SpecificationOils and hydraulic fluids are controlled by grade and approvals, not colourExact vehicle requirement and current product specification
Cure and movementRTV, PU, anaerobic threadlocker and exhaust paste harden differentlyGap, air exposure, joint movement and stated cure time
Temperature and chemicalsHeat, fuel, coolant, brake fluid and water can attack unsuitable productsPublished service limits for the precise reference
Repair criticalitySafety-critical or structural damage may prohibit chemical repairApproved repair method and competent diagnosis

Do not select from a remembered colour or a partial name. Red rubber grease, copper grease and ceramic brake grease describe different applications; LHM Plus and LDS are not interchangeable simply because both are hydraulic fluids. If the vehicle requirement cannot be established, stop before topping up or mixing products.

Sealants, gaskets, assembly paste and threadlocking

Granville silicone, RTV, instant gasket, PU-Flex, brushable seam sealer, exhaust paste, bearing fit and thread-seal products each rely on a defined cure mechanism and joint condition. Remove old material without gouging mating faces, degrease by the permitted method and check whether the joint requires a formed gasket, sealant, both or neither. More sealant is not automatically more secure; excess can squeeze into an oilway, coolant passage or intake.

Anaerobic bearing or thread products need the correct metal fit, gap and cleanliness, while RTV cures with moisture and exhaust paste can respond to heat. Observe skinning, assembly and full-cure times. Tighten fasteners in the stated sequence rather than using sealant to compensate for distorted flanges or damaged threads. For exhaust joints, support the system and inspect clamps and hangers so movement does not break a fresh seal.

Greases for distinct materials and loads

The range includes copper, ceramic, red-rubber, silicone, CV and battery-terminal greases. Their names point to different thickener, solid content, compatibility and temperature goals. Use red-rubber grease only where the exact rubber and hydraulic application permits it; silicone grease only where it will not contaminate a surface needing paint, bonding or electrical conductivity; and CV grease only for the specified joint and boot system.

Brake-related compounds must never touch pad, shoe, disc or drum friction surfaces. Some modern braking systems restrict copper-containing products or specify a particular lubricant at defined contact points, so current repair information controls the decision. Battery-terminal grease belongs after a clean, secure electrical connection where specified; it does not repair a loose clamp, corroded cable or failing battery.

Engine, hydraulic, steering and suspension fluids

Granville Hypalube C4 5W-30 titles include viscosity and a named formulation, but the vehicle's required specification remains decisive. Match viscosity, performance specification, engine, emissions equipment and service interval. Do not treat a top-up as routine when level loss is unexplained, and do not mix an unknown existing oil simply to reach the dipstick mark.

LHM Plus, LDS, hydro-suspension fluid and power-steering fluid are system-specific references. Colour is not a reliable cross-reference and the wrong fluid can damage seals, pumps or control valves. Identify the reservoir and exact requirement, use clean dedicated equipment and follow bleeding or level-setting instructions at the stated temperature and vehicle position.

Coatings, underbody products and surface repair

Granville stone-chip coating, underbody Schutz and floor paint protect different surfaces and experience different impact, flexing and chemical exposure. Prepare sound metal or existing coating by the stated method, remove contamination and mask brakes, exhaust heat surfaces, drain holes, threads and electrical earth points. Texture or thick film cannot restore metal lost to corrosion.

Metal repair putty and similar compounds should be confined to uses explicitly supported by current product and repair information. A title or old description should not be interpreted as blanket permission to patch a fuel tank, pressurised component, suspension part or structural panel. Fuel odour, active leakage or weakened metal requires immediate risk control and competent repair assessment.

Chemical handling, spills and waste

Use Granville chemicals with original labels and current safety data available. Separate incompatible products, store containers upright and control access. Aerosols, adhesives, paints and solvents need ignition and ventilation controls. Skin contact with oils and cleaners can cause irritation, so use appropriate gloves, wash facilities and good hand-care practice rather than cleaning skin with workshop solvent.

Spill granules and refuse sacks in this range support housekeeping but do not replace a spill plan. Stop the source if safe, protect drains, identify the substance, use compatible absorbent and dispose of contaminated material through the correct route. A spill involving fuel, strong chemical or unknown liquid may need isolation, reporting and specialist response.

From identification to a checked result

StageGood practice for this rangeMistake to avoid
DiagnoseIdentify the leak, wear, fluid requirement, corrosion or spillChoosing a chemical from the symptom name alone
VerifyCheck material, specification, temperature, cure and criticalityUsing colour as proof of fluid or grease compatibility
PrepareClean correctly, ventilate, protect adjacent systems and arrange PPEApplying over contamination or active leakage
UseMeasure, apply or fill by the exact Granville and vehicle procedureAdding excess product to compensate for damage
InspectCheck cure, leakage, level, security and underlying faultReturning to service before full cure or bleeding

Record the Granville reference, fluid specification, dose or cure time with the repair. If leakage, noise or level loss returns, that record helps distinguish product choice from damaged hardware, poor preparation or an unresolved system fault.

Reading real Granville references

The Granville names below are examples from the current range and show why the complete description matters. They are not universal Granville recommendations and should not be treated as a fitment list. Within Granville, a shared family word can conceal a different dimension, connector, material, pack format, operating condition or installation side.

Example listingWhat to verify beyond the name
Exhaust Assembly Paste - 140gSystem, material, cure method and temperature
Granville Silicone Sealant Black - 40gGrease type, exact contact point and rubber compatibility
Granville Silicone Sealant Clear - 40gFluid grade, specification, fill method and level procedure
Granville Petro Patch Metal Repair Putty - 50gCoating substrate, masking, cure and service exposure
Granville High Temperature Instant Gasket - Black - 200mlSystem, material, cure method and temperature
Granville Brushable Seam Sealer - 1kgGrease type, exact contact point and rubber compatibility
Granville PU-Flex Sealer Black - 310mlFluid grade, specification, fill method and level procedure
Granville Bearing Fit & Studlock - 10mlCoating substrate, masking, cure and service exposure

The sample list moves from exhaust paste and RTV into threadlocking, greases, engine oil, hydraulic fluid, screenwash, coatings and spill control. Keep the full Granville name and pack size attached to the task; a 500g grease cartridge and 500ml fluid are not neighbouring alternatives merely because their volumes look similar.

Common errors around Granville products

  • Using Granville sealant to compensate for a distorted flange or damaged thread.
  • Allowing RTV excess to squeeze into an oil or coolant passage.
  • Putting grease on brake friction surfaces.
  • Mixing LHM Plus, LDS or another hydraulic fluid from colour alone.
  • Using a stop-leak or putty as an assumed structural or fuel-system repair.
  • Coating over active corrosion without assessing metal loss.
  • Handling workshop chemicals without label, safety data or ventilation controls.
  • Treating absorbent granules as the whole spill-response plan.

Granville questions and answers

Q: What Granville products are represented here?

A: The range includes sealants, gasket products, assembly pastes, threadlockers, greases, oils, hydraulic and steering fluids, coatings, cleaners and spill-control items.

Q: Can any Granville grease be used on brakes?

A: No. Use only the exact compound at positions permitted by current brake repair information and keep friction surfaces clean.

Q: Are copper and ceramic grease interchangeable?

A: Do not assume so; composition, temperature behaviour and permitted contact points differ.

Q: Can LHM Plus and LDS be mixed?

A: Only if the exact vehicle and fluid information explicitly permits it; otherwise treat them as distinct system fluids.

Q: Does 5W-30 prove an engine oil is suitable?

A: No. Viscosity is one factor; required performance specifications, engine and emissions equipment must also agree.

Q: Can RTV replace every formed gasket?

A: No. Follow the joint design and repair procedure, which may require a gasket, sealant, both or neither.

Q: How much sealant should be applied?

A: Use the bead size and pattern stated for the exact product and joint; excess can cause internal blockage.

Q: Can exhaust paste fix a cracked exhaust?

A: It may be intended for defined joints, but cracking, corrosion and support faults need proper inspection and repair.

Q: Can metal putty repair a fuel tank?

A: Do not infer that from a broad title or old description; fuel-system repairs require exact product support and competent safety assessment.

Q: Why has a fluid level fallen again?

A: A recurring loss indicates leakage, consumption or another fault that needs diagnosis rather than repeated top-up.

Q: What should be done with used oil and chemical waste?

A: Contain it, keep incompatible wastes separate and use an authorised disposal or recycling route.

Q: What Granville information should be recorded?

A: Keep the exact reference, specification, dose or bead, cure time and date until the repair outcome is established.
