Do not choose solely by the largest pack or thickest layer. Full-area measurements can reveal that a door kit is unsuitable for a floor, that 1/2-inch foam prevents trim seating, or that a heavy barrier is inappropriate on a vertical moving panel.
Xtreme and SuperLite damping sheets
Dynamat Xtreme is a self-adhesive constrained-layer damping sheet for hard panels where resonance is a problem. The speaker, wedge, door and bulk packs in this range use different sheet dimensions and quantities, so calculate actual square coverage and cutting waste. Damping depends on intimate contact with a prepared panel, not on loosely placing the sheet behind trim.
SuperLite is thinner and lighter than Xtreme according to Dynamat's official comparison. That can matter on weight-sensitive builds, large roofs and moving panels, but it does not remove the need for a sound substrate and careful rolling. Neither family should bridge drains, cover door mechanisms or foul glass as it travels through its full range.
Dynaliner thickness and layered installation
Dynaliner is a self-adhesive closed-cell synthetic rubber insulation layer that addresses heat and remaining airborne noise. The current selection includes 1/8-inch and 1/2-inch sheets. Official guidance favours the thickest supported material that the available space permits, which makes a physical clearance check more useful than assuming maximum thickness is always better.
The thinner sheet is easier to accommodate behind door trim and in tight cavities; the thicker sheet needs substantially more room and suits higher-priority thermal zones only where carpet, consoles, seats and fixings can return without compression or distortion. When layering over Xtreme, finish and roll the damping sheet first, keep both surfaces clean and preserve apertures for clips and bolts.
DynaPad, Hoodliner and the installation roller
DynaPad is a dense four-layer floor barrier intended beneath carpet. It is not the same peel-and-stick construction as Xtreme or Dynaliner, and its mass must be allowed for when measuring and handling. Keep it clear of pedal travel, seat runners, belt anchors, wiring connectors and any low point where trapped moisture needs investigation.
Hoodliner combines acoustic foam with a reflective facing for an engine-compartment-facing panel and official guidance pairs it with Xtreme for maximum noise control. Fit only to a compatible, stable bonnet surface with adequate clearance from hot, moving and service components. Use the rubber roller for even pressure on supported adhesive sheets, not as a substitute for cleaning or to force material over sharp objects.
Preparation, templates and clean adhesion
Photograph trim, clips and cable routes before dismantling. Vacuum loose material, inspect seams for water entry and repair corrosion or failed coatings. Dynamat recommends a smooth, clean surface; any chosen cleaner must be compatible with the substrate and leave it fully dry. The repeated 457mm by 812mm dimension does not make Xtreme and SuperLite identical, and an insulation roll with the same footprint as DynaPad still performs a different function. Keep family, thickness, sheet count and intended layer attached to every measurement.
