Do not infer compatibility from an inlet that appears to clamp on. A cone also needs adequate filtration area, a supported neck, safe bonnet and body clearance, protection from water ingestion and an intake arrangement that leaves every metering and ventilation function correct.
Replacement filters need a complete identity
A replacement filter must seal against the exact clean-side boundary of its housing. Record the old reference before cleaning obscures it and compare length, width, height, flange or sealing lip, top and base construction and media. K&N's official 57-7000 information identifies an application-specific kit with moulded intake tube, oiled cotton cone, heat shields, coupler, brackets and hardware. Its illustrated guide covers a defined Porsche 911 application and includes configuration-specific hose and sensor steps. Confirm the full vehicle, engine and transmission detail against the latest guide before work begins.
Work only on a cool stationary vehicle. Follow the battery procedure, protect the throttle opening and mass-air sensor, and label every connector and ventilation hose. Use each supplied clamp and spacer in its stated position, keep wiring away from abrasion and verify tube, shield and bonnet clearance. Do not discard the original intake, and do not transfer the kit's installation steps to another reference.
Universal cones and filter wraps
AEM 21-204BF is identified in the current range as a universal cone. Universal means that selection is dimensional, not that it fits every vehicle.
