Disc pads dominate numerically, but the smaller groups show the page's dimensional spread. Do not grind a Textar pad, drill a lining, enlarge a disc hole or bypass a wear contact to resolve a mismatch. Those actions remove the evidence that the wrong reference or brake assembly has been selected and can undermine retention or monitoring. Recheck the application, dimensions and brake-system identification instead.
Disc brake pads, backing plates and wear systems
A Textar pad combines application-specific friction material with a backing plate and retention features. Match the complete outline, thickness, abutments, spring locations and any handed or directional details. A pad that enters the carrier only after filing is not a correct fit. Conversely, corrosion beneath clips or damaged carrier lands can prevent a correct pad moving freely and must be repaired within the approved method.
Wear-warning arrangements can be integral, separate or absent. The single wear-contact entry on this page should be selected by connector, length, routing and compatible pad or axle. Secure cables in every intended clip, clear of the disc, wheel, suspension and heat. Reset electronic service information only after the physical brake condition and sensor circuit have been checked.
Drum linings, rivets and S-cam inspection
The Textar lining kits represented here include detailed drum diameter, width, thickness, arc length, rivet-hole count and friction-quality information. Those values control how the lining sits on its shoe and works within the drum. Standard-size and oversize or repair-size concepts must not be confused. Measure the drum by the approved method and compare it with its marked limit before selecting lining thickness.
Relining is specialist work. Shoes require inspection for distortion, cracks, elongated holes and platform wear; rivets require correct material, length, setting equipment and sequence. Rivet heads must seat without splitting the lining or standing proud. On S-cam systems, inspect cam profile, bushes, rollers, return springs, anchors and adjusters. A new lining cannot compensate for a worn cam path or an out-of-limit drum.
Brake discs, minimum thickness and mating parts
Textar disc selection needs outer diameter, nominal thickness, minimum thickness, height, centring diameter, bolt arrangement and solid or ventilated construction. The evidence also distinguishes supply without hubs, bearings or studs. Verify what must be transferred or renewed and use the vehicle procedure for bearings and fasteners. Never infer included hardware from the weight or product photograph.
Clean the mounting face without removing metal and check hub run-out where specified. Rust scale trapped behind a disc can create lateral variation; excessive bearing play can mimic or worsen it. Measure disc thickness at the stated points and compare with the marked or published limit. A disc below minimum thickness, cracked, badly heat-affected or structurally corroded needs replacement, not machining to improve appearance.
Safe dismantling and contamination control
Brake dust may contain harmful material regardless of the apparent age of the vehicle. Use an appropriate dust-control method such as suitable brake-cleaning equipment; do not blow assemblies clean with compressed air or sweep dust dry. Wear task-appropriate protective equipment, keep food and drinks away, and wash before breaks. Collect residue and used friction material according to workplace and waste requirements.
Support the vehicle and axle for its mass, chock as required and release stored pneumatic, hydraulic or spring forces only by the approved procedure. Commercial brake chambers and heavy drums present hazards beyond ordinary pad replacement. Keep brake fluid, oil, grease and dirty cleaner off friction surfaces. If a new pad or lining becomes contaminated, follow technical guidance rather than attempting an improvised solvent rescue.
Axle balance, adjustment and return to service
Inspect brakes across the axle because friction thickness, disc or drum condition and adjuster operation affect balance. Replace components in the axle sets required by the vehicle procedure, but do not assume that every related part is included in one Textar box. Caliper slides, pistons, seals, hoses and air-system components must move and hold pressure correctly before new friction material can work as intended.
After assembly, set manual or automatic adjusters only by the correct method, restore fluid or air systems, and check for leaks and free rotation. Establish pedal or actuator operation before moving the vehicle. Follow the specified bedding process, brake-efficiency test and wheel-fastener procedure. A warning lamp, pull, overheating, binding or abnormal travel requires investigation before normal road use.

The sample references look similar because many are seven-digit 29-series pad numbers, but the number itself is part of the engineering identity.
