If several operations are needed, sequence them deliberately: diagnose, isolate, clean, allow the cleaner to evaporate, inspect, free the part if necessary, then apply only the specified final lubricant. A dry film can suit a dusty repetitive mechanism where sticky residue would hold contamination. Silicone may be inappropriate near a future paint or bonding operation because transferable contamination can cause defects. Greases can migrate or trap grit and must not reach brakes, clutches, drive belts, tyre treads or foot controls.
