Raptor: understand the range before choosing
Raptor is U-POL's protective-coating range. The ten aerosols on this page form three different systems: Flameproof primer, colours and satin clear for very-high-temperature parts; gloss or satin Roll Bar & Chassis paint; and black, silver or clear Wheel Paint. Preparation, substrate, recoat window, drying and heat cure are product-specific.

All ten entries are maintenance coatings, but four Flameproof cans make a primer-colour-clear system, two chassis cans offer gloss or satin black, and four wheel cans offer colour or gloss clear. Container volume helps identify the family but never substitutes for the complete product name and current technical sheet.
Build a reliable shortlist
Establish the highest real service temperature and component function. An exhaust manifold, chassis rail and road wheel see different heat cycles, chemicals, impacts and inspection needs. Then decide whether the can is a primer, pigmented topcoat or clear finish and preserve that order throughout preparation and recoating.

Do not use a published maximum temperature as a general durability promise. Flameproof's high-temperature rating depends on correct preparation and full cure, while the chassis and wheel families have lower stated limits and must remain away from exhaust or other hotter components.
Flameproof primer, colour and satin clear
Raptor's Flameproof technical sheet covers prepared bare steel, aluminium, galvanised steel, stainless steel and titanium, with the dedicated primer recommended for maximum system performance. Grey Flameproof Primer is a foundation, not the finished colour. Flat black or red supplies colour and satin clear is the optional compatible finish; keep all coats within the stated recoat sequence.
Official directions call for cleaning, specified abrasion, recleaning, thorough can shaking and controlled coats with a timed flash. After the complete system is applied, it must release solvent for at least the stated period, preferably overnight, before heat cure. On-vehicle and off-vehicle cure routes differ; follow the current sheet exactly and cool the part between prescribed running stages.
Safe heat cure is part of the Flameproof process
Heat cure is not an excuse to expose wet paint or vapour to ignition. Keep spraying and solvent release in an appropriate ventilated area with no smoking, flame, spark, welding or hot component. Store the can cool and remove it completely from the cure area. Never use a domestic food oven or an uncontrolled heat gun for a coated exhaust part.
Before an on-vehicle cure, remove masking that the instructions require removed, check nothing contacts the exhaust and confirm the work area can safely handle fumes. The July 2024 sheet specifies an initial idle stage, cooling and a later normal-running stage; an off-vehicle part uses a controlled bake. Stop if the film smokes abnormally, blisters or contaminates adjacent parts.
Roll Bar & Chassis is a separate coating
Roll Bar & Chassis paint is offered here in gloss and satin black. Raptor's technical data describes prepared bare metals, fully cured paint, polyester filler and GRP, with abrasion selected to the substrate. Although described as self-priming on supported surfaces, it still requires cleaning, degreasing, sanding and recleaning; self-priming never means preparation-free.
This family is stated for much lower heat than Flameproof and dries by its own aerosol schedule, including an overnight period before use. Keep it away from exhaust manifolds and components exceeding its data. Do not coat structural cracks, fastener threads, suspension joints, brake pipes, earth points, data plates or inspection surfaces that need to remain visible.
Wheel colour and gloss clear
Wheel Paint colour choices here are gloss black, satin black and silver, with gloss clear as the finishing option. Raptor specifies prepared, primed metal wheels. Remove the wheel where the repair procedure allows, strip weights only with a plan for later balancing, and assess cracks, distortion, corrosion and previous repair before cosmetic work.
Mask tyre, valve, bead seat, hub bore, mounting face, bolt or nut seats and every brake component. Degrease without transferring tyre dressing or silicone, abrade to the stated grade and prime bare metal with the supported system. Apply colour and clear within their technical windows, allow the wheel to dry overnight and do not refit, balance or wash it while the film is soft.
Aerosol control and final inspection
Arrange extraction and respiratory protection for the actual product safety sheet; an open door alone may not control solvent vapour or spray mist. Shake for the stated time, make a test pattern, hold the can at the specified distance and use overlapping passes without flooding edges. Respect ambient-temperature limits because cold cans and hot panels alter atomisation and flash.
After full dry or cure, inspect in good light for bare edges, solvent pop, runs, dry spray and coating on exclusions. Clear blocked holes and remove overspray only by a method safe for the substrate. Record product code, batch, primer, colour, clear, coat count, timing and cure route so any future touch-up uses the same system rather than a similar-looking aerosol.

Keep the current technical and safety sheets with a coating log. A future repairer needs to know whether a part carries Flameproof, chassis or Wheel Paint, whether primer and clear are present, and how the coating was cured before sanding, welding or heating nearby.

The 400ml, 366ml and 378ml sizes help distinguish families in the current titles, but labels and data sheets control the work. Satin clear in Flameproof and gloss clear in Wheel Paint belong to different systems and cannot be exchanged because both are transparent.
